The care of toenails and fingernails is often discarded as a minor aspect of personal care, even though having healthy and clean nails is hygienic and can prevent the onset of infections.

Older individuals and those with disabilities or conditions can often find taking care of toenails particularly difficult.

Toenails and fingernails protect the tips of toes and fingers from damage. They are made of a protein called Keratin and can provide an indication of general health.

If toenails and fingernails are not cleaned and cut correctly, you may be at risk of getting fungal infections, brittle nails and nail splits and it might not be possible to detect any abnormalities that could highlight other health problems.

Benefits of Having Clean and Correctly Cut Toenails

Having toenails that are cut properly and clean comes with several benefits including:

  • Early detection of health problems
  • Prevention of ingrowing nails and fungal infections

Nail Cutting for the Diabetic, Disabled and Older People

Due to NHS budget cuts, only 5% of podiatry is carried out by NHS clinics.

We provide nail cutting services to all individuals.

Our toe nail cutting treatment can be carried out at our professional clinic or in a client’s own home, making it a service that is accessible by anyone regardless of age and ability.

Our Nail Cutting Service

Our toe nail cutting services can reduce the risk of fungal infections and ingrowing nails and be completed at our clinic or in the comfort of your own home.

The treatment consists of:

  • Cleansing the feet with a disinfecting pre-treatment that kills bacteria.
  • Nails are then cut by our trained foot care assistants to the correct length, filed and shaped using sterile equipment.
  • Once the nails have been cut a moisturiser is massaged into the foot to help hydrate skin and increase circulation.
